30 July 2009 Vladivostock Russia

After breakfast I went to check if my motorcycle was still there. I also wanted to get the battery charger for my camera. Before I get on that ferry I want my laptop and camera charged up. I met a guy out by my motorcycle who was a driver for some TV channel. He spoke quite good English. His name was Andrei and he said he was seaman for about ten years and pretty much used English in his travels. He asked me about my travels on my motorcycle. I told him the whole story and he said he liked adventure also. He said he was a parachutist and flew a hang glider. Between one of those sports he crashed and broke his leg below the knee. He said they hammered and nailed his bones back together with titanium screws. That must have taken a long time to heal. Oh, that must have hurt. The scar was almost 12 inches/30 centimeters long. Before he left he asked me if I wanted to do a TV interview with one of the local television stations. I said yes. He asked my room number and said he’d get back to me about it. He left on business and I returned to my room to work on my blog. Later he called me and asked if I could do the interview on the 31st of July. I told him I was leaving the hotel at 7:00 a.m. for the ferry at Zarubino and I didn’t want to drive out of Vladivostok during rush hour traffic. He said the people who would do the interview would never come to the hotel that early in the morning. So my last chance for fame fell thru the cracks. I told him thanks and continued work on my blog. All day I tried to get on the internet thru the hotel with no luck. Finally I decided it was time to go find the router and see if I could get on the internet. It was next to the elevator and provided five bars on my WiFi reception meter. The best reception I’ve ever had in Russia. I sat out in the hall for three hours sending e-mails and looking for hotels in Seoul, South Korea and in Vancouver, British Columbia. I also researched customs and immigration at the Port of Zarubino. I knew it wouldn’t be long before security would show up. They knew I was up to something evil and had to come check me out. When he showed up, I never even looked up and just kept working. He walked by and I never saw him again. I went back to my room, packed my bags before going to bed around 2:00 a.m
